I have a few comics in the works and here’s a making-of frame from the latest “Evil Dog 3 – The Final Confrontation”. Seen here is my good friend Marthe, discovering the monster isn’t under the bed at all – it’s in it.
1. Starting out with a rough pencil sketch, I normally just draw the frames that come to mind when I have a story. The fun part is to puzzle them together in the end.
2. Using a light table I transfer the sketch into a more refined artwork by using a thin black pen. If I’m not happy with an expression, I’ll just draw it again on a separate sheet and paste it over in photoshop.
3. My linework rarely connects, so it’s ideal to trace the shapes in Adobe Illustrator. This also gives full control over colors and details – I often let the color complete the shapes. The black frame outline seen here will later be removed as the colors will define the boarder of the frame.
4. To give the comic a more hand-drawn expression, I copy the vector graphics into photoshop and draw shadows by hand using a brush and the layer blending mode ‘multiply’. To make it easier I paste same-colored shapes in one layer to use the matching darker tone for shadows.
5. Final step is to tweak colors or add vibrance by using the dodge tool to lighten and burn tool to darken certain areas. Good luck in the next frame, Marthe =P
It is no secret that I’m a fan of Dallas, one of the biggest tv dramas of the 80s. Years ago, my friend Stian and myself started imitating that characteristic, devious, teeth clenching JR Ewing grin, and it has grown to involve more friends around us. When we meet from time to time, doing the grin has become established practice.
As the turbulence of season 28 starts to decline, Kenneth finds himself in the much needed comfort of a stabilizing daily routine. With an extended apartment contract in Midsommarkransen, a job-landing plus reliable income and housemates that decides to stay, a healthy day-to-day balance is within reach.
The season kicks off with a hopeful renewed attempt at a relationship with heart-throb Thomas as more secrets of those around him starts to unfold; A castmember reveals she is bearing child, Kjell Martin drifts away as he meets an intense new love interest in Oslo. Hyper Island newcomers Fatih and Minna join in their third season and provides drama and fun through stable friendships. Kenneth’s dad introduces a new woman while sister Hanne’s 4-year stint in Finland is coming to an end, consequently bringing the cliffhanger of the season; will she join her brother in Stockholm?
about.me was kind of fun. Simple layout, nice hub for your online presence. With the short bio and huge background picture it’s a bit more personalised than www.isalso.at Browsing strangers is also cool plus it seems you get visitor statistics.
11 months after Jone Eskilsson, myself and debutant Fatih Okan shot the sequel to 2009′s cult-improvised “The Elevator Ghost”, it finally arrived at a Youtube near you. “The Elevator Ghost 2 takes place at Hyper Island, Stockholm, and has 6 times the scares (and elevators) of the original. Some say this installment has taken the franchise in a more commercial direction, it remains to be seen however, if this will draw more audiences.
Ten years ago I bought my first hi8-video camera. It was also around that time that my group of Trondheim friends started hanging out together. We had parties, played board games, went out to cafés and travelled together. Eventually we also started referring to our group as TMDG – Trondheims Most Dysfunctional Gang (which is not a joke). I captured a lot of us on film through the years, and today, I have extensive archives of tapes from those glory days!
My ambition is of course (to some of my friends’ horror), to edit all that raw footage and some day have a neat “best of”-collection. That will take years. I’ve always had a fascination for how people age… So for now, I present the ultimate Dallas Intro spoof, with everyone represented in the familiar three-split screen. To the left, clips from 2000, to the right clips from 2005 and in the center clips from this year!
